Aliona Sosunova. Director of Engineering. Vinted
Aliona Sosunova
Director of Engineering
Vinted
I am a director of engineering without an engineering background. At least once per quarter I catch myself thinking that I don’t know anything, I’m not able to do my job properly and I don’t know what to do in one or another situation. And then I remind myself that it’s not about luck that I am where I am. It’s about my competence, decisions I made and my fears I overcame. And that’s why I am on my mission to support amazing brave ladies through their journey, as I know that every one of us has self-doubt moments. My background as project manager, agile coach, team leader and engineering director allows me to inspire people to constantly look for better ways of doing things and creating better products, to implement changes with belief, motivation and buy-in of all the team. Experience that I gathered working with multiple teams taught me to think not only about certain frameworks and the rules, but about mindset, motivation and team values and that is my passion.

What is Mentoring?
There are many talented people left without professional support, which often results in loss of motivation. Mentors make sure that doesn’t happen!
Mentoring is best described as an educational process when mentors share knowledge with the purpose of surfacing potential in their protégés.
Mentors are not school teachers. They’re voluntary professionals that are motivated to pass on knowledge and contribute to Women Go Tech’s talent pool.
The process is based on guidance. Mentoring only serves as a vehicle towards self-realization.
The beauty of the Women Go Tech Acceleration program is that it’s a two-way learning experience, meaning that both parties will gain invaluable knowledge.
