Paulius Labanauskis
Technical Team Lead
Railsbank Technology
My initial interest in IT began by learning to break things; entering the unexpected value in a web form and maybe seeing what I was not supposed to. Not long after I learned that building is actually more valuable and also more engaging. To build a quality and complex software system contributions must come from so many different people, not one of them being able to see the full picture; much like seeing a skyscraper – you see a shiny glass facade but you rarely have to think that each bolt had to be put in there by a person. I have been working professionally as a developer and lead for over 10 years in engineering, ad tech and fintech and feel happy every day I have discovered the fascinating field of information technology.

I turned to IT 25 years ago, so I saw its progress. What has happened during this time is truly impressive and it is probably difficult to find an area that would have improved so much and influenced other technologies. I have improved together and in various roles, from deep technical, to process management.
Now I work as a team leader helping people discover themselves in the IT world. It is an equally interesting experience. I am happy to see someone growing and improving with confidence, but at the same time – making the environment better.
My strength is to talk about IT understandably.

From the old days of DOS, to the contemporary world of Software Testing, I was, am and always
will be a software developer. I have in the past co-founded WebCollage, survived the bubble
collapse of 2000 and worked on various big cloudy projects at Wix. My current passion is figuring
out how to test software, which I have turned into my main job as Senior Architect at Applitools. I
religiously test all my software, from the early days as a junior software developer to the current
days at Applitools. Unfortunately for me, I haven’t yet answered the big question of my life – I still
doesn’t know whether static languages or dynamic languages are best. -

to contribute to wide range of activities. Throughout the years my responsibilities grew together
with the company, I was responsible for export, client relationships, marketing, business
development, procurement and product development. Recently I have begun managing the
production company which is in rapid growth phase and in the need of transformation in many
areas of business. Although changes in Tech companies always gets down to technical
solutions, it is very important to look at these changes from the point of view of the final user. I

What is Mentoring?
There are many talented people left without professional support, which often results in loss of motivation. Mentors make sure that doesn’t happen!
Mentoring is best described as an educational process when mentors share knowledge with the purpose of surfacing potential in their protégés.
Mentors are not school teachers. They’re voluntary professionals that are motivated to pass on knowledge and contribute to Women Go Tech’s talent pool.
The process is based on guidance. Mentoring only serves as a vehicle towards self-realization.
The beauty of the Women Go Tech Acceleration program is that it’s a two-way learning experience, meaning that both parties will gain invaluable knowledge.
