In your own words, introduce yourself!
My name is Vitalija. Today, I work as a business analytics consultant in Amesto Analytics using Microsoft technology, primarily Azure Databricks. I thrive on turning complex data into actionable insights, and I love to talk about data and exchange best practices. When not at work you can find me in my garden or working on my next ceramics project.
Take us back to the beginning. What sparked your passion for this field, and what keeps you energized about it?
When I dove into the world of business analytics consulting. I was blown away by how a few lines of code could bring instant value to clients. I can see that my data products are being used every day and that I am solving real-world problems. By seeing the results of my contributions to the client and my own team, I feel valuable myself, which keeps me motivated.
What was the ‘aha!’ moment that made you jump into the Acceleration program?
The Acceleration Program offered the perfect opportunity to collaborate and network with like-minded professionals and take my abilities to the next level. The possibility of learning from the best in the field and improving both my technical and soft skills was too exciting to pass up.
How do you track your progress as you climb this career mountain? Are there milestones you celebrate?
I keep a close eye on my journey by planning and tracking my progress and achievements in my career development plan. I try to celebrate my success, but generally, I keep a growth mindset – I am always thinking about how to become better and which area I could learn more about. I make sure to acknowledge and celebrate some of my wins. It keeps the adventure exciting and motivates me to reach for the next peak!
Can you tell us a story about a time your mentor helped you crack a tough problem or achieve a major win?
I believe that our everydays are made of small, consistent wins rather than major victories, and it is crucial to notice and celebrate these small changes. During the Women Go Tech Acceleration Program we broke down my 5-year goal into manageable, measurable steps. With my mentor’s guidance, we created a timeline and set specific milestones to track my progress for my professional development.
This mentorship is more than just professional advice, right? What are some unexpected perks you’ve enjoyed from this relationship?
This mentorship is more than just professional advice. Unexpected perks include personal growth, increased confidence and leadership skills. One interesting side was that as I always focus on my professional goals, I tend to forget my personal ones, and we have discussed that they are just as important. Additionally, our shared expat experience has fostered a genuine friendship, providing holistic support and making me feel more balanced and fulfilled both professionally and personally.
Beyond the technical skills, what other gems of wisdom have you picked up from your mentor?
This journey has been a mutual learning experience, which continues to be a significant asset in my professional development. I see Gareth as a strong leader and a role model, exemplifying the type of professional leadership I aspire to achieve. His guidance and examples inspire me daily to strive for excellence and to cultivate the same supportive and growth-oriented environment in my own career.
Imagine you’re telling your future self about your career goals. What exciting things do you see on the horizon, and how do you think this mentorship will be your secret weapon?
I believe this mentorship and emphasis on long-term strategies and continuity will give me a solid foundation of achieving these goals. I see this mentorship continuing to be a cornerstone of my professional development, helping me navigate future challenges and seize new opportunities with confidence and skill. With the foundation, I am excited to tackle new heights, continually learn, and grow while making a meaningful impact on my team, my clients, and beyond.
